How likely are you to recommend High Plains Mental Health Center?
“"I cannot say enough good things about Amy Wetzel and my med staff nurse, Susan. Amy is a wonderful, kind, and caring professional who genuinely listens. From my very first appointment, I felt acknowledged and comfortable. I tend to ramble and jump from topic to topic, but Amy’s ability to keep up with me is astonishing! She is the first person in many years who has actually listened to how I feel and taken the time to truly get to know me. I never feel rushed or like I’m just a 'time slot' on her calendar. While I wish I had started seeing her back in 2021, I am so grateful to have her now; I wouldn't want to see anyone else. Susan has been my med staff nurse for five years, and she has been amazing since day one. She knows me so well and is incredibly patient and great at her job. I never have to worry about communication because both Amy and Susan respond to me in a very timely manner. With both of these women, I feel like a person, not just a patient. They clearly care about their work beyond it just being a 'job.' They both deserve more than five stars, and I hope High Plains realizes how lucky they are to have them on staff. Thank you, Amy and Susan, for everything you do!"”
“This place is POORLY run so please be careful. The people working are extremely nice and polite. And please keep in mind, this is my opinion, based off of only seeing a few therapists and doctors at the Center, but as explained below, I have spoken to others who had the exact same experience at the Center. Simply put they will push pills upon you rather than focusing on your OVERALL mental health and well-being. The therapists basically just want to quickly get you started on some magical pills after your first appointment. And again, I believe they have good intentions at the Center, but all of us patients wants healthy fact driven results and advice, not just the latest and greatest so called magical pill. That was created in a laboratory by companies rushing to make profits. They never ask you what your diet is even like when we all know that diet is crucial to being both mentally healthy and physically. Then if you are spiritual or religious the idea of you speaking to someone who is not doesn't make any sense. If someone believes in God for example. Why would that person trust a therapist who does not believe God exists? Then if you are healthy with your diet and lifestyle. Having a therapist diagnose you who is extremely overweight and doesn't even ask you about your diet is crazy. Why would you trust them? Then when the therapist tells you these "new powerhouse antidepressants can help you feel better immediately and only after a few days". When in reality all the test studies show it takes 6 to 8 weeks for these particular antidepressants to work. These are lies unfortunately and there was many more I was told by the therapist on my 1st visit. She was super nice and extremely caring I believe. And the same goes for probably most everyone one at the center. There is a reason most of us patients and public do not trust High Plains Mental Health Center and other places like this. It is very disturbing and just inexcusable these places are about just rushing people in and out quickly. With a huge push to get patients on the latest and greatest magical pharmaceutical pills. Pills, pills, pills for everyone who enters that door. If the first pills don't work for you they just quickly switch you to another type. It is like throwing darts on a dartboard while wearing a blindfold. Just look at almost all of your friends or family on antidepressants and other mental medication that have been taking them long term. Most all, not everyone, but lost of them are sadly struggling, depressed, have horrible side effects, are overweight, and some seem happy, but not motivated to eat healthy, stay in shape and they just seem way off compared to them not being all medicated up. Again, I truly believe they have good intentions are hard working people there. However, me and many others in Hays believe they probably cause much more harm to people than good. Then to aggressively promote these life altering medications to them so quickly even when a patient migjt not even want them to take an antidepressant. Then calling it a "powerhouse drug" that can make you feel better most likely just in days. This is cannot be legal and especially when these antidepressants can cause even more depression in some cases and all kinds of side effects. This Center should not be rushing patients through their pill popping system with no real grasp of mental or physical health and well-being. However, this is true for probably all mental health centers across the great United Snakes of America. So please just do your own research online and you and your family can choose what is best for you while using them to get better. Ketamine is another new available drug most people are having success with. And it is legal to use at the Center or buy yourself online actually. We all have room for huge improvement on what we eat. Which is the most important and then of course sleep goes along with eating healthier since lack of sleep creates cravings for sugar and junk food. Then incorporate moderate working out. God Bless!”
“If I could give negative a review I would. I went there to get help for my mental health. Was put on some dangerous medications when mixed together. Wound up in a mental hospital a couple months later. I tried to get the records of all my medications. Had everything on there except for the main one that caused a very bad reaction to another medication they put me on. I called to get an answer as why it wasn't on my prescription list fromy pharmacy. They flat out denied ever putting me on it. Even If they weren't the ones that put me on it, it would've shown up in my records. Absolutely no history of me ever being prescribed that particular medication.”
“They use to be okay then something in them shifted. They canceled my appointment without letting me know. They claimed they sent me a letter but they never did and when confronted said “we have the right address we sent it”. They did not. I also expressed a desire to pay back my bill to them. However I’m on SNAP and government assistance. I just couldn’t. They offset my tax money without sending me a letter telling me they were gonna do so which is illegal. I couldn’t pay my rent and almost faced eviction. Had the letter been sent then okay but it wasn’t. They stole from me. I’m taking steps to hold them accountable since all they do is call people liars a when confronted. They then sent me a letter after I made a complaint to the state. They tried to gaslight me into thinking they did everything they could. They are such liars. They don’t help people. I was on the phone call. I have the voicemails. I WONT BE GASLIGHT.”
